2019 Teaching Innovation Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize impact and innovation in Production and Operations Management instruction. In their evaluation of the materials submitted, the judges give primary attention to: (1) evidence of pedagogical excellence, (2) evidence of creativity and/or innovation and (3) evidence of impact.

2019: 

Xenophon Koufteros is consistently recognized by his current and former students for his outstanding teaching skills, creativity, innovation and strong dedication to his students with numerous awards at the college, and university levels. He was also recently recognized as one of the 2018 Top 50 Undergraduate Professors by Poets and Quants. His "LaunchPad" partnership with SAP for new ideas from undergraduate students, his negotiations case and his involvement of industry partners in the exercise are quite innovative and give the students first-hand experience in tackling real complex business problems. He is truly an exceptional teacher.

Robert Sroufe designed nine courses over 11 years that integrate sustainability into graduate, undergraduate curriculum, study abroad and live-project management-consulting projects. He has a strong impact on course design and development. The courses he developed, and the projects involved in these courses give the students an opportunity to apply knowledge to solving complex business problems with a specific focus on integrated bottom-line. His teaching related work resulted in many publications in journals such as Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education, Journal of Management Education, Operations Management Education Review, and cases published by Financial Times, Council of Logistics Management, among others.
