Paul Kleindorfer Award in Sustainability

The Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) approved the Paul Kleindorfer Award in Sustainability in its meeting held on November 18, 2011 in Boston, U.S.A. The award is instituted to recognize young scholars who have already distinguished themselves through the breadth and innovativeness of their scholarly work on questions related to sustainable operations and the social and environmental impact of business.

Present Winner
The 2019 Paul Kleindorfer Award in Sustainability has been awarded to Prof. James Abbey of Texas A&M and Prof. Luyi Gui of UC-Irvine. Both co-winners have contributed to the community of sustainability researchers and teachers in numerous ways. Their research has broken important new ground in the field of sustainable operations and has led to impressive publication records in POM and other top journals. Profs. Abbey and Gui have also served the POMS academic community tirelessly through leadership positions in the POMS College of Sustainable Operations, mini-conference organization, and reviewing/editing manuscripts for the Sustainable Operations Department of POM.
